Halloween Spider Cookies
There are so many Halloween cookies. Recently, my child kept asking me to make Halloween cookies after hearing about them somewhere. I searched a lot on Xiachufang, found scary finger cookies, skeleton cookies, but the one that attracted me most was spider cookies. They are simple and don’t require molds, so I decided to make the spider cookies and record the process for future reference. This recipe makes 16 cookies.
Ingredients
Steps
Take out the butter in advance to soften. If you're in a hurry, you can use a hair dryer to warm it up. Once softened, add sugar and beat the mixture with a mixer until pale and fluffy.
Take 30g of egg liquid and add to the butter mixture in two batches, beating until incorporated.
Take 100g of peanut butter (I bought mine from a random supermarket). Whip it with the mixer thoroughly until smooth.
Mix the cake flour, baking powder, and baking soda together. Sift into the mixture and stir until no dry flour remains.
Form the dough into a ball. Preheat the oven now at 180°C for 10 minutes.
Divide the dough into 20g portions, roll them into balls, and flatten slightly into discs (not too flat). Use a Malteser to press a hole in the center.
Place in the preheated oven at 180°C, middle rack, and bake for 15–20 minutes.
Let the cookies cool slightly and press a Malteser into the center. Once fully cooled, the Malteser will stay in place.
Melt chocolate in a piping bag over hot water. I ran out of white chocolate, so I used berry-flavored chocolate.
I made two designs: one with spider webs and one without. Use the melted chocolate to draw patterns as you like. For the eyes, add a dot of melted chocolate on the candy eyes to attach them to the Maltesers, or draw eyes directly using white and dark chocolate.
Once the chocolate sets, your fun and delicious cookies will be ready!
The candy eyes I bought are small-sized Halloween sugar eyes from a Taobao store.
